The program of events in the Cedrino Valley, organized by the Union of Municipalities chaired by the Mayor of Onifai Luca Monne and curated by L'Intermezzo and Bflat, with the Domina Edizioni Musicali Association, comes to an end with an unmissable live event where it will be the protagonist one of the noble fathers of the island's songwriting.

The closing will be tonight, Saturday 30th, at 8pm in Loculi with a grand Sardinian gala, with free entry, on the occasion of the New Year's Eve hosted in the “Sa Defessa” Municipal Amphitheater and no longer in the Domo de Sas Artes, as mayor Alessandro Luche said when presenting the event.

The protagonists for the finale of the event are Durusia, with their amazing interpretations to dance and sing all together , and the concert of one of the giants of Sardinian music, Piero Marras, singer-songwriter and doyen of island artists who has been offering his masterpieces for over 50 years with a unique and inimitable style.

Just to mention one of the episodes of a career full of successes, in 2000 he was invited to participate in the Christmas Concert in the Vatican in front of John Paul II: he sang “Sa oghe 'e Maria” with Dionne Warwick and in 2003 he was awarded by the Ignazio Foundation Silone «for the high cultural value of his texts».

He was recently awarded the prestigious special recognition by the Cambosu Prize in Orotelli in homage to an extraordinary career spanning half a century.

His songs have been sung by all the most appreciated Sardinian artists and his fame has reached the Peninsula and various parts of the world, receiving unconditional acclaim from critics and the public.

Piero Marras will crown an unforgettable year with the last concert of 2023 in a small municipality in the Province of Nuoro that does not want to give in to depopulation : culture can also convince the new generation to stay in their hometown to restore vitality to the communities who want to keep values and traditions intact, a heritage of immeasurable richness which could represent a sign of rebirth to be conveyed to the institutions so that they take charge of a problem of extraordinary relevance for the island.

The event, started by Onifai with Tazenda, Melodias Arkanas and Tenores di Bitti, and continued with three days of American gospel music proposed by Nate Brown & One Voice in Galtellì, Orosei and Irgoli, met with great success: the small communities of the Barony they welcomed, even in the low season, a large number of visitors and tourists who were able to appreciate the cultural, artistic and food and wine peculiarities of an area known, in particular, for the splendid sea of the Gulf of Orosei but which offers, even in winter , sections of extraordinary pleasure and suggestion.
