" Fair Trade Lamb ". Here is the supply chain agreement, which not only pays the right price to the shepherds , but also delivers a slice to the players in the Sardinian IGP lamb supply chain. The agreement was signed this morning in Macomer, at the headquarters of the Consortium for the Protection of Sardinian PGI lamb, between the Consortium itself, the Ibba Sr-Abbi Group brothers, Coldiretti Sardegna, Fdai and Stc Carni, and the representatives of Ismea in video conference.

According to the protocol signed this morning, the Ipg Sardinian lamb cannot be paid for under the established production costs established by Ismea (Institute of services for the agricultural food market) in 5 euros and 62 cents , including VAT. «A historic agreement - says the president of Coldiretti and of the consortium for the protection of the IGP Sardinian lamb, Battista Cualbu - because finally the price comes from a fair negotiation in respect of all the components of the supply chain, starting with those who produce (the shepherd ), which in the past has always suffered and not negotiated the right price of what it produces. The new standard, as desired by Coldiretti, is a tool created to protect the weak link in the supply chain . Now we have to stop the speculation. I think this is the line to follow and to extend to all agricultural sectors. Anyone who buys a Sardinian IGP lamb from the Ibba brothers' shelves will be sure to bring to the table a product that is not only 100% Sardinian, good and genuine, but also ethical, because it pays the right price to the shepherd».

«The PGI lamb leads the way - underlines the director of the Consortium, Alessandro Mazzette - thanks to this memorandum of understanding the shepherd has the guarantee that throughout the year his lambs will never be paid below production costs , therefore the price can never fall below 5.62 euros per kilogram, when alive, as established by Ismea».

Stefano Ibba, of the Fratelli Ibba Group, Federico Stocchino Stc Carni, Luca Saba, director of Coldiretti, and other representatives of Sardinian companies and producers also took part in the signing of the historic agreement.
