A dive into the past among bustiers, full skirts, lace, umbrellas and elegant top hats: with its tableaux vivants, Victorian England comes back to life on May 28 at the Public Gardens of Cagliari in the eleventh edition of " La grande Jatte ", an event that after two years of stop due to the pandemic, it takes back its spaces between paths and secular ficuses.

A full program of events is scheduled, in which the contests will be the protagonists. And in addition to rewarding the best Victorian dress for men and women , the best steampunk outfit for men and women and children , this year beards and mustaches will also be in the competition , given that more and more participants take care of their hairstyles with precision and extreme attention, respecting fashion weather. For 2023, the theme chosen is " Vanity Fair ", so the judges will have to take this aspect into account when they vote for the best picnic and the best banquet.

Among cushions on the lawn, sweets and precious porcelain for the perfect English tea , music and dance are also on the program, as well as make-up stations, hairdressers and barber chairs, puppet shows and games for the little ones .

The involvement of the students of the Foiso Fois Institute is also foreseen: 250 pupils from 14 classes, with their 30 teachers, will be involved in a theatrical work set to music , in which melodies, texts, sets, costumes and scenic representation are all by the Boys.

The collaboration between the Institute and the Mad2Factory Association, which has always been organizer of the Grande Jatte, was born from the meeting between Claudia Cabitza, president of the association and artistic director of the event, and Gian Luca Starita, professor of Foiso Fois and Jatte lover .

«It's a beautiful project that I'm really glad it went through - explains the creator of the Grande Jatte, Claudia Cabitza - because I had been trying to involve the institute for years as a former student. It is really exciting to be able to collaborate with the school in such an "unconventional" event. And perhaps, if there is a watchword that represents La Grande Jatte, it is "unconventional". We approach this new edition after two years of downtime, with a mix of performance anxiety and happiness. We know that those who participate feel it, want it and dedicate time and effort to it. He is not only a spectator but a part of this great show itself and as such he brings it to life and gives it soul. We hope to be able to give everyone a little dream once again».
