Perdasdefogu becomes the capital of literature every summer. It happens thanks to the 7Sere7Piazze7libri festival. Born in 2011 to promote reading, today after 14 years it confirms itself as one of the most popular cultural events on the national scene. A pride for the artistic director Giacomo Mameli because he has achieved the goal of introducing even those who are not accustomed to books. «Because reading is life and books are the viaticum for understanding society» he says.

Current affairs interpreted by literature and fiction among the new global trends in politics, wars, feelings, new languages, society today: these are the central themes of the 14th edition of the festival scheduled from 29 July to 4 August in Foghesu . It will be a week marked by culture with 52 events, 36 authors, 78 speakers and eight musicians.

Opening, in the One Hundred Years of Solitude Square, with the memory of Gabriel Garcia Màrquez ten years after his death and the portrait of two great Sardinian writers who passed away in recent months: Maria Giacobbe and Michela Murgia. Comments entrusted to Gigliola Sulis (University of Leeds), Paola Soriga and Lilli Pruna. The traveling festival is proposed again: Friday 12 July at 7pm in Pesaro (Italian Capital of Culture) with the journalist Lucio Luca and the former Rector of Bologna Ivano Dionigi and from 9pm costume parade by the folk group Perdasdefogu. Prefestival which continues in eleven towns of the four Sardinian provinces with Sergio Rizzo, Giovanni Antonio Tabasso and Cosimo Filigheddu, Vittorio Giacopini, Bachisio Bandinu and Matteo Porru.

A week with texts that are attracting readers' choices. From last year's theme ("Last comes the crow" by Italo Calvino: "I don't believe that the war is over") to a theme that has remained dramatically current, wars: with a lesson taken from Lucretius' De Rerum Natura : “With words not with weapons”, “Dictis non armis”.

All meetings start at 9pm in the various squares of the town. After the evening dedicated to Màrquez with Ilide Carmignani,
Gabriella Saba, Nestor Ponguta and Giuliana Adamo, closing entrusted to Nicola Lagioia. Then it will be Cristina's turn
Casiraghi” with “Lonely Stars”, Pier Giorgio Pulixi and his “Per un'ora d'amore” and the Kurdish writer Fariborz
Kamkari “Return to Iran” in conversation with Francesco Bellino and a speech by Gad Lerner.

The other appointments: Wednesday 31st Lucio Luca with “La notte dell'antimafia” and Lorenzo Cremonesi with “Guerra
infinity". Thursday 1 August: Graziella Monni opens with "Il medico di Caller", followed by Federico Fubini with "L'oro e
the homeland" in dialogue with the president of the Sardinian CEI Antonello Mura, the leader of Confindustria Giovanni Bitti,
Antonio Solinas CEO of Ab Insula, two teachers from the London School and the mayors of Fonni and Arborea. Closing with
“The Choice” by Sigfrido Ranucci. Friday is the turn of Pina Ligas, Giuliano Tramaloni and Luca Bianchini with “Il cuore è
a gypsy." Saturday The writer Matteo Porru interviews Cristina Caboni on “The crystal necklace”, closes Milena
Agus with “Night of passing wind”. The evenings are coordinated by the journalist Francesca Lai.

The artistic director of the festival, Giacomo Mameli: «It will be a week with international and national writers, with
pages of excellent literature will reflect on the torments and ferments in this period of epochal metamorphoses in
world. These are the themes that solicit increasingly demanding readers. Because we believe that the correct use of language,
of the care of the words proposed by first-time authors, help to understand a society in frenetic mutation. Challenge
which starts from a small town which, between isolation and depopulation, lives its summer in the name of culture".
