Jazz, literature, theater, and performance art meet for a unique occasion, featuring prominent guests and iconic locations: Marmilla once again hosts Pedras et Sonus , a festival conceived and directed by Zoe Pia . In 2026, it will combine the Pedras et Sonus Jazz Festival and "Words Meet Music ," a literary festival now in its second year . After debuting yesterday, the program, which brings together music, landscape, words, and archaeology between Mogoro and Sini , continues until August 23 , before the grand finale in Orosei this Sunday .

Two seemingly distinct yet actually complementary paths, united by the idea of culture as a shared experience and this year's theme of freedom of choice , inspired by Pia's own experience in the documentary "Eresias," directed by Daniela Vismara. Questioning the present, rereading memory, and conceiving new ways of interpreting reality are the watchwords of an event packed with books, theater, live performances, and much more .

The program

Following the rich opening evening on Monday, including the tribute to Michela Murgia in " Guida a un'isola eretica " with Valentina Abha Lo Surdo , the multidisciplinary show " Eresias " with Pia and Artemyde and the special participation of Andy Fumagalli of Bluvertigo – in the talk " Siamo ritrovati agli anni Ottanta? " and in the subsequent performance with Eugene in " Labirinto Bowie ", a new series of events begins today .

Moving now to the Nuraghe Cuccurada , we begin with a guided tour of the Nuragic complex accompanied by a performance (created for the occasion) by saxophonist Tobia Bondesan , combining history, landscape, and musical improvisation. This is followed by the presentation of " Annìle ," Edoardo Mantega 's literary debut and winner of the eighteenth edition of the Gramsci Prize , in a dialogue between the author and Luca Manunza of Cabudanne de Sos Poetas, which will conclude with a musical reading . Finally, the evening concludes with the Daniel Karlsson Trio , led by the eponymous Swedish pianist and completed by Christian Spering (double bass) and Fredrik Rundqvist (drums), playing European jazz with Nordic influences and electronic and improvisational elements.

Instead, Wednesday the 19th opens with a new " Jatzilleri " event at the Bar del Nuraghe Cuccurada , featuring the " Music For Dance " project by Tobia and Michele Bondesan with Giuseppe Sardina , exploring jazz sounds contaminated by electroacoustics and improvisation. From there, the event moves back to the Sagrato , bringing words and music together: starting with Lorenzo Braina 's intense monologue in " Padri. Storie di uomini" (Fathers. Stories of Men ), a reflection on education, relationships, and male fragility. This thread is then set to music by " A Bad Day ," a project by Sara Ardizzoni and Egle Sommacal , entirely dominated by electric guitars and moving between jazz, experimental rock, minimalism, and electronics.

Thursday the 20th will also have a similar structure to the previous day, starting at 7 pm at Caffè Gitano in Mogoro with Marco Farris and the Blues Harp Storm Band , performing country and electric blues. The concert will continue at the Sagrato with " The Last Question ," a project by Nugara —a trio made up of Simone Locarni , Viden Spassov , and Francesco Parsi —inspired by the novel of the same name by the great Isaac Asimov and focused on research into timbre and improvisation in contemporary jazz. Erica Mou will end the evening with a new leg of her " Cerchi Tour 2026 ," featuring the singer-songwriter performing her latest album, " Cerchi, " along with some of her most beloved songs.

On Friday the 21st, the festival moves to Sini , where it restarts at 5:30 PM with a concert for the guests of the Imparis Reception Center , officiated by trumpeter Dario Zaro and drummer Enrico Antonio Lucci, a duo for the Music Zirkus project, bringing the festival experience to contexts far from the live music circuit. At 9:30 PM , the venue changes, with the square in front of the Church of San Giorgio hosting a concert by Enrico Locci 4th in a captivating " Latin Jazz Live Set ," combining modern jazz and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, followed by a tropical-flavored DJ set by Ayonis Lazaro and Maikel Napoles , for a collective celebration that combines artistic research and conviviality.

Pedras et Sonus is scheduled to return to Mogoro on Saturday the 22nd , intertwining with the Sardinian Artistic Crafts Fair and bringing its activities to the Cloister of the Fair itself. It starts at 7 pm with " Play Your Voice ", the presentation of the book " The Art of Speaking in Public " by author Lo Surdo – followed by a workshop inspired by the first public speaking method, based on the principles of music – followed by a meeting dedicated to the text " Equal Human Beings. A Research on the Roots of Racism ", featuring renowned jazz musician Ada Montellanico in conversation with Silvia Ravenda of ExitWell, which will close with a musical reading . To bring the evening to a close, another appointment with Jatzilleri at the Baradeo Caffè will feature cumbia, Afro-funk and tropical grooves with Cocoa Thrill .

The new year of the festival will thus conclude on Sunday 23rd in Orosei , bringing the coming together of tradition and contemporaneity back to the centre with " Indindara ", the original project by Pia and the Tenores of Orosei "Antoni Milia" : on the parvis of the Church of San Gavino from 9.30pm , clarinets, electronics and improvisation construct new sound textures paired with the polyphonic singing of the Tenores, in the strong symbolism of ancient legacies that return to living matter.

The organization

For all evening performances scheduled at the Sagrato della Madonna del Carmine in Mogoro, the free " Baby Jazz " entertainment service for children is activated, with free admission for children up to twelve years old and people with disabilities, as well as discounts for residents, under 18s, over 65s and members of Midj - Italian Jazz Musicians.
