Eni Versalis and Novamont, partners of Matrìca, resolve the dispute between them and strengthen the partnership to relaunch green chemistry, a strategic sector for the ecological transition.

They confirm their commitment to Matrìca - the joint venture established in 2011 between Versalis and Novamont in the Porto Torres industrial area with the aim of producing bioproducts from renewable sources, enhancing production technologies and assets.

A new agreement reached between the shareholders of the two companies made it possible to overcome the corporate problems that had blocked the continuation of the project, which was stopped in the second phase.

Versalis will increase its stake in Novamont from 25 to 35 percent. Therefore, the new reorganization sees the Novamont team configured as follows: Mater-Bi (65%) (held by NB Renaissance, Investitori Associati and other private investors), (35%) Versalis.

"The development of chemistry from renewable sources, of which the Matrìca joint venture represents an important example, is one of the pillars of Versalis' strategy, - comments Adriano Alfani, Versalis CEO - in line with the energy transition path it is carrying out. Eni. This agreement with Novamont starts from the idea that Italy, in the field of chemistry from renewable sources and the circular bioeconomy, can play a key role at an international level ".

For Catia Bastioli, Novamont CEO, “this agreement strengthens the synergies between Novamont and Versalis in green chemistry, leveraging on what has been achieved so far to maximize opportunities. The Matrìca joint venture today represents a chemical platform from renewable sources at an industrial level, with unique plants and products on which it is possible to further build in terms of technologies, products and projects that also look to the sectors of agriculture, energy and bioproducts.
