Leonardo Pavoletti went under the knife last night for arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. The operation, successfully performed at the Columbus Clinic Center in Milan by Dr. Giacomo Zanon, involved a joint “cleaning” operation, aimed at solving some discomfort the striker has been experiencing in recent months.

The Cagliari captain will now observe a few days of complete rest, before starting the rehabilitation process that will lead him to a return to the field.

Pavoletti's championship was affected by various physical problems, but the centre-forward - a point of reference on and off the pitch - continued to represent a symbol of leadership and attachment to the shirt. Cagliari, who closed the championship yesterday with safety in their pocket, is counting on having him back in top form for next season.
