The Sardinian shepherds have decided to desert the Productive Activities Commission of the Regional Council scheduled for Thursday 27 October.
The decision came after a delegation of only two breeders was admitted to the summons, who, it is specified, can only be present as "auditors".
"So the shepherds will not be able to take an active part and, contrary to what was promised on October 20, they will only be able to listen", underline the breeders, urging a different call-up formula.
“In this case - they add - we take note of the fact that Sardinian politics is far from wanting to hear and create a fruitful direct collaboration with those who, by demonstrating in the square, brought to everyone's attention the problems arising from the same political representation . We have been denied the right to speak and we will not attend the Commission if the criteria are not changed quickly ".
In the meantime, the farmers themselves announce their intention to ask the prefect for a meeting to express their disappointment and explain the reasons that led to the demonstration on October 20: Pac and Psr, prevention of epizootic diseases, viruses and environmental disasters, institution of continuous cash, handling cattle and pigs, payments of previous measures and compensation, calculation of production costs (milk and meat), reorganization of the three regional agencies and increases in bills and raw materials.
"On the occasion of the protest of the pastors, there was a meeting held in the building of the Regional Council, in the presence of all the group leaders and the president Pais, which ended with the commitment by the aforementioned, to convene a delegation of pastors in the 5th Commission , in the presence of the Councilor for Agriculture Gabriella Murgia, to discuss the points mentioned during the meeting - remember the shepherds - it was the group leaders themselves who endorsed the participation of a delegation of farmers, declaring that they wanted to work together to build a law to be presented to the Regional Council '".
Gian Franco Satta, regional councilor of the Progressives, also intervenes on the matter.
“Convoking the shepherds in the Productive Activities Commission and then putting the gag on them cannot be said to be a wise management of the disputes raised by the agro-pastoral world”, comments Satta.
"The agreements - he adds - taken last week by the Prime Minister, the group leaders and the delegation of the demonstrators were clear: to face and discuss the issues in the Commission with all the parties, including that of the Councilor for Agriculture".
"It is a shame and yet another mockery of the workers in this sector who are paying a very heavy price for the crises triggered in recent years , from the pandemic to the increases in raw materials, always faced in solitude because they are totally abandoned by those who govern the Region" , concludes Satta.
