The Italians, top seeds and second in the Race to Riyadh (they are both number 5 in the specialty ranking), beat the pair formed by the Serbian Olga Danilović (number 100 in the doubles ranking) and the Russian Anastasia Potapova (number 139) 6-3 7-6 .

Next opponents are Polish Linette and Danish Tauson.
