PanettOlla, five years of success: over 50 bikers for the end-of-year ride between Sinnai and Soleminis.

Another great success for PanettOlla , an event that has now become a regular fixture for five years. Since 2020 , every December 31st , numerous bikers gather at the entrance to the Sinnai pine forest , tackle the climb towards the hut and ride the dirt road that leads to Monte Arrubiu . This year's edition ended in Soleminis , where all the cyclists were welcomed with panettone and drinks.

The event was conceived by Alberto Olla (the name of the event is inspired by his surname), a member of Aquascan , the company that has been organising the event together with Olla himself since 2023 .
"I created it in 2020, the year of Covid," Olla says. "The day before, I would bring some panettone and drinks to the barracks on Monte Arrubiu. On the morning of the 31st, we would reach the summit and share everything. It was a simple get-together with friends from different teams, about twenty of us. Since 2023, thanks to president Mario Argiolas , PanettOlla has become more professional."

This year the participation exceeded 50 bikers , with the presence of various companies: in addition to Aquascan , Karel Sport , Sinnai MTB , Sardinia Mountain Bike , Donori Bike and SC Cagliari took part in the event.

Aquascan President Mario Argiolas expressed great satisfaction: "It was a success, with so many participants, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart. It was a pleasant bike ride starting from the entrance to Sinnai and arriving this year at the Elisa Deiana Park in Soleminis . It was a great opportunity to get together and wish each other a Happy New Year while pedaling. At the park, all the athletes were able to enjoy panettone and a drink. I thank my family and everyone who helped, as well as the mayor of Soleminis, Claudio Suergiu , who was present at the finish line along with several city councilors and aldermen, who granted permission to use the park."

Mayor Claudio Suergiu himself emphasized the importance of the initiative: "Sports must be promoted and supported, especially when it can involve so many people and enhance the local area. Events like PanettOlla are always welcome because they combine social interaction, outdoor activities, and community spirit. Events of this kind represent a positive example of collaboration between sports associations and local institutions, and the Municipality of Soleminis will continue to support them."

The participants were also enthusiastic. Michele Montis of Karel Sport commented: "This is now an unmissable event. It's not the stopwatch that matters, but the pleasure of riding together and ending the year together."

Claudio Lecca of Sinnai MTB said: "A stunning route and beautiful weather. It's always a pleasure to see so many different teams united by the same passion."

Finally , Alessandro Saddi of Aquascan : "Panettolla has become a tradition. Excellent organization and a genuine spirit: the best way to say goodbye to the old year and start the new."

An event that, year after year, continues to grow, confirming itself as one of the most anticipated and appreciated moments of local amateur cycling.
