The Sassari building in Piazzale Segni will not be expanded to 6,500 seats , as foreseen by the original project. This was confirmed by both the mayor of Sassari Nanni Campus and the councilor for public works Rosanna Arru . The costs are too high to keep faith with the project that involved the insertion of a third ring to increase the capacity of almost 2 thousand seats, according to the expectations of Dinamo basketball which in the league had a filling capacity of at least 95% up to arrival of the pandemic.

Barring surprises in the coming months, the works started in the summer of 2020 will end in the summer of 2024 but the capacity will practically remain the current one of 4,600 seats .

The news has aroused confusion among Dinamo fans , who wonder what the advantage is of having spent over 10 million euros for a work that requires 4 years of work and inconvenience, given that for another two seasons the Palaserradimigni will be a building site. And all the gym clubs around the main court (boxing, martial arts, gymnastics and Uisp) still have to train elsewhere.

THE PLANT - The structure , built in the mid 80s and enlarged in the 90s, was by now decadent and no longer safe. The works are used to bring the electrical, fire, sewage and water systems up to standard , to renovate the changing rooms and make a new roof. The 4.3 million obtained with Jessica European funds had already been available for a couple of years, but only in 2020 the works were started and, moreover, it was necessary to obtain 6 million from the Sardinia Region.

To build the third ring and expand the capacity it would take another two and a half million euros or a little less. The Municipality of Sassari will leave the burden to those who manage the plant (almost certainly Dinamo) if they want to proceed.

Given the timing of completion (despite the year and a half without an audience due to the pandemic), the inconvenience and the expense, the concerns of the fans are justified. The mayor Campus himself had strongly criticized the work bequeathed to him by the previous council.
