Gigi Angeli, born in Pola (now Croatia ex Yugoslavia) to Sardinian parents, raised in Luras and resident for years in Palau, won the first prize in the rhyming section of the XXXIV edition of the Sardinian Poetry Competition “Nanneddu Chighine”, 2024. Gigi Angeli, winner of several awards in various competitions, writes verses in Italian, Sardinian/Logudorese and Sardinian/Gallurese.

The poem that won the “Nanneddu Chighine” 2024, is in Sardinian/Gallurese and is titled “Lu chi no compro ... attilbu!” Organized by the ISSIR Cultural Association, the awards ceremony took place last November 17, in Ittireddu. The 2nd prize in the same section was awarded to Angelo Lombardo, from Ozieri, with the poem “Tonè”. The 3rd prize was awarded to Angelo Maria Ardu de Flussio, with the poem “Un attera unda”. For the Matteo Spensatellu Section, the 1st prize went to Tonino Fancello, from Dorgali, with “Fiza 'e sa notte”; the 2nd prize to Giangavino Vasco, from Bortigali, with ”Sos oios de s'amore”, while the 3rd prize was awarded to Giovanni Piredda, from Calangianus, for “L'andanza di la ita".

The jury of the award is composed of Diego Satta, Francesco Cossu of Ozieri (secretary), Tetta Becciu of Ozieri, Maria Antonietta Spensatellu of Ittireddu, Tonino Satta of Ittireddu, Vanna Ledda of Florinas, Elio Farris of Ittireddu.
