In the Nuorese area, a maxi-photovoltaic system with an installed power of approximately 85MW, which should come into operation in the first half of 2024 .

The project was presented by ACEA Solar , a company wholly owned by ACEA Produzione, which obtained from the Sardinia Region the "Environmental Impact Assessment" and the "Single Authorization" for the construction of the site in the industrial area of Ottana, in the Municipality of Bolotana .

The site, the largest in Sardinia and among the largest in Italy, will have an area of approximately 140 hectares and will be connected to the high voltage grid in Terna's new electrical station called "Ottana 2", built within the same industrial area.

The project also includes the construction of an energy storage system of 10MWh which will supply electricity in the phases of the day in which generation from renewable sources will cease.

The system as a whole will contribute to the stability of the grid and to the supply of electricity for 170 GWh / year, equal to the annual needs of approximately 50,000 households and corresponding to more than 70,000 / ton of CO2 avoided per year, compared to a equivalent production from fossil sources.

Within the perimeter we will intervene with the sowing of a perennial lawn, while outside the affected area, for an extension equal to twice the plant, the favorable conditions for the presence of protected species will be maintained or created.

"The Bolotana plant - commented Giuseppe Gola, CEO of ACEA - represents a further significant step forward in our growth path in photovoltaics, in line with the development plan in the renewable sector which integrates the Group's industrial objectives with the sustainability targets. The plant, one of the largest in Italy, will in fact offer a significant contribution to the country's energy transition and decarbonisation process ".
