It has been happening for a few years, yet it already seems to be a consolidated practice to expect Oscar-nominated films no longer only in the cinema but also on the most important entertainment streaming platforms . Either because the market and the way of using the contents, for various reasons, have profoundly changed, or because more and more often it is Netflix or Amazon that produce some of the aforementioned feature films. In fact, if before we tried to recover as many titles as possible between one theater and another, now getting prepared for the night of the awards has become a test, let's say, more within everyone's reach and not just the most hardened cinephiles.

So here's a quick guide to skilfully sailing among the event's potential winners.

Invariably starting from the dear old room we still find Steven Spielberg's "The Fabelmans" available (best film, best director, best leading actress, best supporting actor, best original screenplay, best art direction, best original soundtrack) and "Avatar: the way Water” by James Cameron (Best Picture, Best Production Design, Best Special Effects, Best Sound). For both titles, the projections will certainly continue until March 12 and probably thereafter. We also find "Puss in Boots 2: the last wish" (best animated film) and "Babylon" , very recently released (best art direction, best costumes, best original soundtrack).

On February 2, Martin McDonagh's "The Spirits of the Island" awaits us, which enjoys no less than eight nominations (best film, best director, best leading actor, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best original screenplay, best editing, best original soundtrack). On the same day, what is already shaping up to be the revelation film of the Awards will also be released: “Everything Everywhere All At Once” , which is also a potential winner of statuettes (best film, best director, best actress, best supporting actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Original Score, Best Original Song).

February 9th is the turn of “TÁR” by Todd Field starring Cate Blanchett (best film, best director, best actress, best original screenplay, best editing, best photography) and we will also find the very curious “Marcel the Shell” (best animation film). "All beauty and pain" by Laura Poitras, candidate for best documentary, is in theaters on 12, 13 and 14 February. On the 16th “The Quiet Girl” by Colm Bairéad, an Irish film nominated for best foreign film, will be released. Instead, we will have to wait until February 23 for the highly anticipated “The Whale” by Darren Aronofsky (best leading actor, best supporting actress, best make-up and hairstyling). The month of March will instead start with "Empire Of Light" by Sam Mendes, candidate for best photography.

And having finally reached the streaming offer, on Netflix we find "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Daniel Brühl, which literally hoards of nominations (best film, best adapted screenplay, best foreign film, best production design, best cinematography, best makeup and hair, best special effects, best sound, best original score). Alejandro Gonzales Iñárritu's "Bardo" by Alejandro Gonzales Iñárritu competes for Best Cinematography, Andrew Dominik's widely discussed "Blonde" for Best Actress and "Glass Onion - Knives Out" for Best Adapted Screenplay . The nominations for best animated film include Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio and Chris Williams' Sea Monster.

On the other hand, evaluating the offer on Disney+ we can first of all enjoy a small-big Italian pride: “Le Pupille” by Alice Rohrwacher, co-produced by Alfonso Cuarón and candidate for best short film. A film that, so to speak, plays at home is “Black Panther - Wakanda Forever” , streaming from February 1 (best supporting actress, best costumes, best make-up and hairstyling, best special effects, best original song). Other names in competition are “Red” (best animated film) and “Fire of Love” (best documentary).

Finally, a quick review of all the remaining platforms: on Paramount+ we have “Top Gun: Maverick” (best film, best adapted screenplay, best editing, best special effects, best sound, best original song), on Prime Video “Argentina , 1985” (best foreign film), on MUBI “Aftersun” (best supporting actor) and on Apple TV+ “Causeway” , with Jennifer Lawrence (best supporting actress). For hire, however, we find two essential heavyweights: "Elvis" by Baz Luhrmann (best film, best leading actor, best editing, best production design, best photography, best costumes, best sound, best make-up and hairstyling) and "The Batman" by Matt Reeves (best hair and make-up, best special effects, best sound). In short, there really is something for all tastes. Will it be in time not to lose even one before the fateful day, in the night between Sunday 12 and Monday 13 March?
