The nominations for the 2026 Oscars have been announced: the 98th Academy Awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on the night between March 15 and 16.

Ryan Coogler's Sinners sweeps the board, taking home a record 16 nominations, thanks to a new category, casting, introduced in the 2026 edition.

It's followed by PT Anderson's Battlefield 4 with 12 nominations. The previous record was held by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land with 14 nominations each.

Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value is off to a good start, with six nominations: Best Film, Best Acting (Renee Reinsvee, Elle Fanning, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Stellan Skarsgard), Best Original Screenplay, Best Direction, Best International Film, and Best Editing.

Timothée Chalamet, with his third nomination, earns a record for his age. The actor took home his third Oscar nomination for Marty Supreme: the protagonist of Josh Safdie's film recently turned 30 and was also in the running for Oscars in 2018 for Luca Guadagnino's Call Me by Your Name and in 2025 for A Complete Unknown, the Bob Dylan biopic.

For Italy, this year, there is no candidacy.
