The second stage of the open water swimming World Cup opens with the men's 10 km and the success of Marc-Antoine Olivier.
Solo arrival for the French vice champion in Doha, with a breakaway in the last 1000 metres, this morning in Golfo Aranci: time recorded one hour 50'03"00, ahead of his compatriot Logan Fontain (at 1"40) and the Hungarian Kristof Rasovzky, world gold medalist and reigning Olympic vice champion (at 1"50). First of the Italians Andrea Filadelli, fifth at the finish line in 1h50'08"40, the Italian captain Gregorio Paltrinieri was clearly behind, 33rd in 1h50'56"10, but the result - they assure - would be in line with the Olympic preparation of the champion from Carpi, which in Golfo Aranci aims to test itself in view of Paris. As for the Sardinians in the race, Marcello Guidi finished in 21st place (at 18"40) and Fabio Dalu in 32nd (at 52"60).
Of note is the last-minute withdrawal of the other top athlete of the Italian selection Domenico Acerenza, who did not start due to the flare-up of a shoulder problem. The other forfeit is that of Giulia Gabrielleschi, who did not participate in the women's 10 km characterized by the Brazilian double, with the Tokyo Olympic champion Ana Marcela Cunha who won after 2 hours 02'00"70 ahead of Viviane Jungblut (2 02'02”00); third step of the podium for the German Leonie Beck, winner last year in Golfo Aranci, with 2 hours 02'02”20. Ginevra Taddeucci was eighth, finishing the race in 2 hours, 2 minutes and 5 seconds.
Tomorrow starting at 9.30 the 4x1500 mixed relay.
