A morning for school students in the Barumini area to experience immersed among the newly recovered archaeological finds and delve deeper into the work of experts in restoration operations in a unique reality in Sardinia, a stone's throw from important archaeological sites such as the UNESCO nuraghe of Su Nuraxi.

The second edition of "Open Restorations", the day organized by the Municipality of Barumini, the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation and the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Cagliari and the provinces of Oristano and Southern Sardinia is this, but also the possibility of making the secrets of archaeological restoration known to the public among ceramic, lithic and bronze materials coming from excavations and recoveries carried out in Barumini and the surrounding territories, planned by the Superintendence.

The appointment on Thursday 21 September in Barumini is just one of the stages of a journey that began a long time ago and which still has a long way to go.

The initiative made it possible to carry out a cooperation program between the institutions, with the aim of strengthening the work within the restoration laboratory of Barumini, equipped with machinery and instrumentation suitable for the safeguard, conservation and protection of the historical heritage, artistic and architectural.

Thursday's appointment in Barumini, as well as looking at the younger ones, will also be an opportunity to delve into other aspects of restoration thanks to the evening meeting (from 6pm) with experts in the sector. Participants include, among others, Michele Zucca, mayor of Barumini; Monica Stochino, superintendent of the Archeology Superintendency for the metropolitan city of Cagliari and Oristano and Southern Sardinia; Emanuele Lilliu, president of the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation; Gianfranca Salis, functional area coordinator of the Archaeological Heritage Superintendency of Archaeology; Caterina Lilliu, Board of Directors of the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation.
