On October 25th and 26th, Ozieri will host "Monumenti Aperti," an event to protect, promote, and enhance the area.
The municipal administration of Ozieri, along with the Istituzione San Michele, enthusiastically supports this initiative, which this year is titled "Where Everything is Possible," the theme for 2025, an invitation to be surprised and to look at this extraordinary cultural heritage with new eyes. In Ozieri, several monuments of great historical, artistic, and cultural interest will be open to the public free of charge: students from the city's schools, guided by their teachers, and cultural associations, led by staff from the Istituzione San Michele, will welcome visitors and guide them in their discovery of this heritage. This year, too, we can boast an extraordinary turnout from schools of all levels, which is the clearest sign of the success and capacity for engagement of this important event. The Grotta San Michele, the Civic Archaeological Museum "Alle Clarisse", the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art, the Grixoni Fountain and the underground route, the Borgia Prisons, the Pont'ezzu Roman Bridge, the Museum of Milling Art, the Cultural Center and the Church of San Francesco, the Church of the Rosary, the Grotta del Carmelo, the Church of Santi Cosma and Damiano, the archives of the Sardinian Literature Center of the Ozieri Prize, the Horse Museum - Palazzo Borgia, the Church of San Sebastiano, the G. Garibaldi del Cantaro school building, Viale dei Partigiani Ozieriese, and the Church of Santo Stefano will be open to visitors.
The monuments will be open to visitors on Saturday the 25th from 3 to 6 pm and on Sunday the 26th from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 to 5 pm. Both days will be enlivened by a rich program of collateral events. During these days, visitors will be able to participate in the Gastronomic Festival "Di Spianata e di altre storie: Esperienze del gusto nelle dintorni a Su Pane fine ozierese" (Ozieri's Fine Bread). Typical wineries will be open, stands selling local products will be set up, and restaurants will offer a tourist menu featuring traditional dishes. Ozieri is the birthplace of Sardinian singer-songwriter Maria Teresa Cau. In her honor, the Cantori del Logudoro, directed by Salvina Sanna, will hold a small concert in front of her birthplace on Saturday at 4 pm and Sunday at 11:30 in Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini.
On Saturday the 26th, at 4:30 p.m., Istituzione San Michele guide Fabio Solinas, in collaboration with the Associazione San Leonardo Bidda Noa, will lead visitors on a stroll through the alleys of the historic center: "Walking Through Stories," a journey through memory, history, and toponymy, starting at the Grotta San Michele tourist office. The "Alle Clarisse" Archaeological Museum will host a concert at 6 p.m. by the Bonayres featuring Giuseppe Salis on guitar, Piermario Tedde on bass, Piermario Costanza on percussion, and Laura Mulas on vocals. The concert will feature a repertoire of R&B, funk, Latin rhythms, and pop, with musical arrangements by beloved composers. The events on Sunday the 26th begin at the Archives of the Sardinian Literature Center of the Ozieri Prize with the theatrical storytelling session "Maurizio Giordo Tells the Ozieri Prize": an intense and engaging account of the prize, the literary award with the longest history of supporting Sardinian culture. Throughout the day, in the square in front of the Archaeological Museum, it will be possible to play with the Large Wooden Games of the Lughenè Association: along with 20 traditional European wooden games.
Also on Sunday, starting at 10:00 a.m., the Cantaro schools will host the "ColoriAmo a scuola" painting workshop with teacher Luigia Pollo. This year's Monumento Aperti festival in Ozieri will close with the narrative performance "Fadas": Stories, songs, and dance, presented by the Inoghe Cultura e spettacolo Association. There will be three performances in three locations: at 3:30 p.m. at the Grotta San Michele, at 4:30 p.m. at the Grotta del Carmelo, and finally at 5:30 p.m. at the Fontana Grixoni.
