Little money available, unavailable sites and tight schedules for the organization. These are some of the reasons that prompted most of the municipalities in the province of Oristano to say "no" to Monumenti Aperti , the most important festival in Sardinia dedicated to the enhancement of cultural heritage, organized by the Imago Mundi association. Out of 88 municipalities in the province, only six said yes .

The territories that will participate in the event, which will be staged every weekend starting from 6 May and until 4 June, are Oristano, Terralba, Neoneli and Ardauli together, Cuglieri and Bosa. A "no" to the event despite this has always been a great success involving associations, scholars and students who for the occasion become the "guides" of the monuments open to the public free of charge. Many usually closed.

Without forgetting the economic induced that is created given the many presences of visitors.

The president of the “Imago Mundi” association Massimiliano Messina intervenes on the matter, the soul of the event which turns 27 this year: «It is not a fact that scares us, we know that there is no prejudice against the demonstration . The data is physiological. In the province of Nuoro for many years no administration has participated. The reasons for no again this time are different. There are Municipalities that don't have the resources to participate, and those that don't have the material time to get organized in time. And who doesn't have the monuments available for that precise period. Let's hope for better next year ».

Among the great absentees also Cabras, an area rich in history and archaeological treasures. But also Santa Giusta, San Vero Milis, Bauladu, Milis, Uras and many others.
