For lovers of alternative tourism to the sun / sea combination, which in Sardinia offers endless opportunities, comes the tour of the mines, an innovative project conceived by the Historical Environmental Geomining Park of Sardinia in collaboration with the Municipalities and associations of the territory, which, after the first experimental day of last year in a period of full pandemic, can now reveal all its peculiarities and attractions.

The second stage of Open Your Mine - Open Mines, this is the name of the itinerant initiative to discover the countless beauties of Sulcis, is scheduled today in Gonnesa with guided tours, excursions and moments of aggregation.

"The aim of the project - highlighted Elisabetta Anna Castelli, Extraordinary Commissioner of the Consortium of the Geomineral Park of Sardinia - is to promote the protection and enhancement of the mineral heritage, the identity of the territories of the Park with the aim of improving its perception and highlighting its potential in an innovative and sustainable key from an economic, cultural and environmental point of view ".

The appointment is in the mining village of Normann, a village 7 kilometers from the center of Gonnesa and about 60 from Cagliari, and is part of a busy calendar that in the coming months, after the inauguration last year, will touch Gadoni, Pau, Masullas and Porto Flavia, ending in the big Serbariu mine in Carbonia.

The events are created to involve communities who wish to share the need to endow their mining heritage with new use values that allow them to increase the capital of this cultural and historical heritage of inestimable wealth, taking care of the transition from an industrial field to a repertoire of experiences. that look to the future.

The small urban agglomeration of Normann, unique of its kind, in which there are about twenty families, was used in the past as the residence of the employees and managers of the San Giovanni mine.

Reachable from the entrance portal of the mine and in a dominant position in the center of an extraordinary environmental context surrounded by the Mediterranean scrub, the Sulcis village, pearl of a mining tourism in full development and with exceptional potential thanks to the organization of events and routes related to the slow tourism, overlooking the Gulf of Lion with breathtaking views.

A glance that leaves you breathless and that tourists can admire especially in the evening when the sun starts at sunset, giving dreamy colors and atmospheres.
