Once the Christmas and New Year holidays are over, the prices of airline tickets for domestic routes to the island have collapsed. If last December you spent even 370 euros to fly to Sardinia, now 60 can be enough .

This is what emerges from the data of the "Consumption Training and Research Center" led by Furio Truzzi , president of Assoutenti who has long been involved in the battle against high flight prices.

Anyone who bought a one-way flight a month ago to spend a family holiday paid five times the price they would pay today for the same route .

Some examples: leaving on 23 December from Venice to Cagliari cost 379 euros, today 142 (-62.5%), from Bologna to Cagliari during the Christmas period it cost 358 euros, today 62 (-82.7%) .

The prices for flying to Sicily are even lower: for a Bologna-Palermo they go from 353 to 31 euros, for a Genoa-Catania from 340 to 103, for a Genoa-Palermo from 335 to 52, for a Venice-Palermo from 328 at 68 euros.

" The increases caused by algorithms and dynamic pricing systems have doped the sector, with direct consequences on consumers' pockets ", says Truzzi, who "confidently" awaits the results of the investigation opened by the Antitrust into the use of algorithms.

Truzzi also highlights that tickets on national routes in 2023 suffered an average annual increase of 37.8%, which must be added to the 20% recorded in 2022 .
