After yesterday 's meeting with the Councilor for Industry, Anita Pili , who did not bring substantial progress in the dispute relating to the Olmedo bauxite mine , good news comes from the top management of Igea, where the 26 workers are employed for 36 months and until next November 30 with the task of reclaiming the site area, after the end of the mining activities five years ago.

The unions said they had been contacted by telephone by some representatives of the company, who assured them that, even if the signature is still missing, the contracts will be extended until June 2022.

While freezing the state of agitation to encourage dialogue between Igea, councilor and trade union representatives, until yesterday evening workers and trade unions were apprehensive about doubts about the continuity of contracts.

The call has at least partially allayed the fears of the workers.

"This is good news but we are still cautious - commented Sìmone Testoni from Ugl -. We first want to see a draft contract and to celebrate victory we wait to sign something. However, it is necessary that all the parties involved sit down at a table to look for a solution that gives continuity to the workers' contract and possibly takes them to eight hours ".

On 14 October, the Region had allocated 5 million euros, with the aim of defining safety and the closure of the mining site by 31 December 2023.
