The Olio Montiferru National Award is as long-standing as it is prestigious, and this year it celebrates its 31st anniversary.
The competition, reserved for extra virgin olive oils produced and processed in Italy, is organized and promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari-Oristano, which is keeping registrations open until February 14. Among the most important Italian competitions, this year the Montiferru Award is a pre-selection for the authoritative “Ercole Olivario” award.
The Montiferru Award takes place between Seneghe and Oristano and is divided into two sessions: the first takes place in the months of February and March for the first selection, then the second autumn session, called “Shelf Life”, is held between September and October. The extra virgin olive oils will be evaluated in the categories: DOP/IGP, organic, monocultivar, pluricultivar, then the single international section. The prizes for the best three classified in each category, then other recognitions such as special mentions.
The Competition is dedicated to national olive growers and producers, both individuals and members of consortia, cooperatives or business networks, as well as foreign producers and non-agricultural millers who package the product in compliance with current regulations on packaging and labelling.
To participate, simply fill out the application and follow the instructions on the Chamber of Commerce website. For information and further clarifications, email segreteria.premiomontiferru@caor.camcom.it.
