Two days after a formal notice to pay €38,350 in outstanding compensation to one of its members, represented by lawyer Mauro Cavalli, Olbia Calcio "communicates, with reference to the anonymously cited member, who corresponds to the name of Carlo Giua, former athletic trainer, dismissed on February 11, 2026," that the same "signed a release on January 31, 2026, confirming that, as of December 31, 2025, he had nothing to claim from Olbia Calcio."
In the statement released this afternoon, the Gallura club emphasizes, among other things, that "only the Arbitration Board can award or deny the contested compensation of members, and therefore there is absolutely no risk of legal action, especially since the amounts accrued to date by Mr. Giua do not exceed a few thousand euros," and announces that it has instructed its lawyers to take action against Giua and Cavalli following "the note released solely for defamatory purposes."
Cavalli's response was swift. "If they believe there has been defamation, they can proceed on their own, and then it will be up to the prosecutor first and then the judge to decide whether or not there has been defamation," explains the Bologna-based lawyer. "If there are calculation errors, they can discuss them, but the fact remains that Olbia is in default. The releases," adds Cavalli, "presuppose traceable payment of wages, which Olbia will therefore have to prove in the appropriate courts. Finally, the member has not given any authorization for his name to be released."
