The meetings of the "Music Workshops - Artists to Know" exhibition continue. This evening, from 6.30pm, a new artist to discover, Mino Mereu Pradia, with his first recording work “S'alenu 'e custa terra”.
The musician's long history with the country-rock group Duende, the timely questions of the host of the evening, the radio speaker Francesco Roccaforte, will also investigate the intricacies of the very close relationship between Mereu and his island, a relationship that has given life to an album with international sounds and lyrics in Limba, in the Dorgali and Newfoundland variants. Recently presented at the Mario Cervo Archive, the six tracks are arranged by maestro Antonio Carboni.
Six stories, starting from the poster “S'Alenu 'e custa terra”, which touch the strings of the soul through the homages to De Andrè (Marineri) and the Sassarini (In sa Brigata Tattaresa), which recall heartbreaking news events ( Nieddanue) or which play lightly with memories and nostalgia (Coinieddu and Meriola, the latter with text by Mario Bua). «I claim the right to express part of my soul in a language that for a long time was denied to me for questionable cultural reasons - says Mino Mereu, a teacher with a solid Anglicist education behind him - but which is still capable of transporting me to places, physical and not, that my Italian doesn't reach."
