The first notes resounded through the naves of the Church of Our Lady of La Salette : the one to inaugurate the Contrasti International Festival was Andrea Lucchi, first solo trumpet of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, in three days of music, technique and inspiration that turned the spotlight on Olbia and Gallura.
Maestro Lucchi led an intensive masterclass, involving young talents from all over Sardinia and various regions of Italy, in a training course that culminated in an exciting concert for trumpet ensemble.
"We wanted the festival to start with a strong message aimed at young people," explains artistic director Laura Cocco, "and with Andrea Lucchi we hit the target: the enthusiasm of the kids, the energy that was created, were a gift for everyone."
The figure of Lucchi – with an international career studded with collaborations with the most important symphony orchestras in Europe and overseas – brought to Olbia the excellence of classical music, but also the humility and passion of a great master of teaching. In the masterclass, the repertoire ranged from baroque to contemporary soundtracks, with particular attention to ensemble music and expressive research.
The Contrasti Festival, organized by the Contrapunctum association with the support of the Fondazione di Sardegna, stands out for its mission to bring high musical culture even to the peripheral centers of the Island, helping to reduce the cultural gap between the cities and the territories less frequented by the great artistic circuits. Andrea Lucchi will then return between the end of June and the beginning of July for a new masterclass and a solo concert.
