Sardinia also shines at the Biol Award, the recognition dedicated to organic extra virgin olive oils, now in its 30th edition.
At the official ceremony in the Sala Cavour of the Ministry of Agriculture , Food Sovereignty and Forests, and in the presence of the Undersecretary of Masaf Luigi D'Eramo , a special recognition was given to Nicola Solinas for the “Masoni Becciu Cuncordu” oil from the Masoni Becciu company of Valentina Deidda of Villacidro, which was found to be the tastiest in the “Biokids” category, according to a jury of very young palates between 7 and 15 years old.
Again for Sardinia, after Masoni Becciu, The Orrù Antonella Anna Maria di Siamanna agricultural company with “Donna Marisa” and the Rovelli agricultural company with “Ollù Monocultivar Semidana”, also produced in the Oristano area, climb onto the podium.
The award is organized by the organic producers' association Biol Italia , on the initiative of Ci.Bi. Consorzio Italiano per il Biologico and this year saw 507 oils from 18 nations competing: 303 Italian labels and 204 European and non-European ones.
A jury of 35 experts from all over the world last March 22 in Bari evaluated the oils with tastings, qualitative-quantitative and sensorial analyses, decreeing the victory of the Sergenti oil from the agricultural company "I Sergenti" of Reggello (Florence) . On the podium, in second place, the Mimì oil from the agricultural company Donato Conserva of Modugno (Bari) and in third place the Jasa Cuvee oil from the Istrian company Jasa Prestige in Slovenia.
"It is also - says the Undersecretary of Agriculture Luigi D'Eramo - events like this that have contributed to promoting an ever-increasing awareness of organic. A sector in which Italy is a point of reference at an international level".
