The Pelau company is an example of eco-sustainability , where innovation and tradition walk in a path of shared growth. Dozens of hectares of vineyards where 90% of Cannonau grapes are grown, international wines such as white, and expanses of young and secular olive trees in Pardu , an area suitable for this cultivation, which give life to a healthy oil, with a strong and protagonist of the Aristoil project of the University of Athens (healthy oil project).

The Pelau company
Commitment, competence and continuous research are the peculiarities of the Pelau company which aims at an increasingly organic present. Pelau production is totally eco-sustainable and the machinery used with low environmental impact coincides with the essential synergy between the good of the environment and the health of consumers. Belonging to the land of centenarians, the Pelau business focuses on enhancing the excellence donated by the Ogliastra blue zone . Nothing is left to chance in the Pelau family business: the precious EVO oil is the only Kosher certified oil in Sardinia.
Numerous awards have been obtained: as an innovative company for its commitment to the recovery of waste and the production of biomass and biogas, with a view to a circular economy .
"To make my company and my family younger, more dynamic and innovative through an eco-sustainable path and active collaboration with the universities so as to make it the flagship of the Ogliastra area" - underlines Giulia Mura , now at the helm of the company Pelau , this year present together with Piero Maieli, President of the Commission for Sardinian productive activities , at the inauguration of the oil mill of the historic Buonamici agricultural society : the result of the integrated supply chain project with the Fiesole organic olive growers, whose work was completed at the end 2022 driving innovation and sustainability in olive oil extraction.
To the north of the Pelau valley, immersed in the rich countryside, the Pelau oil mill was already born in 2007.

Giulia Mura's philosophy
Entrepreneur , oil and wine sommelier , with a strong spirit aimed at doing well and always better: Giulia Mura expresses the character of the family business that she leads with great care.
Back in Ogliastra in 2007 after a law degree, Giulia took over the reins of the company built by her father, a multi-specialist doctor, and her mother, a teacher with a passion for viticulture. Success around the corner: numerous bottles of wine produced during the harvest and the (re)discovery of oil as a guarantee of quality.
"Ours is a company that does oil tourism and wine tourism. In this broad vision, vineyards and olive groves surpass their role of production to take on the romantic connotation of places of interest in which to have experiences to remember" - says Giulia Mura, who has radically changed the role of women in the sector, imposing itself on the scene with continuous study. She founded the Oil Tourism - Sardinia movement , and will soon give life to the Women of Sardinia Association together with illustrious women in which to give voice to female expressions that represent the excellence of agriculture, breeding, textiles, crafts and sectors that give value to the authentic traditions of the Sardinian island. She is a member of the Women of the Vine Association and of the Women of Oil Association and among the various awards obtained also that of Woman of the Year at the Senate of the Republic .
"Female tenacity has had a lot of impact on my work: my father is a doctor and head physician, my mother is a teacher and a life dedicated to viticulture. The female role has always had a strong influence, we have created a precise path: since my experience grandmother who was a winegrower and olive grower. I let myself be led by this determined soul: I will soon be busy in Rome with a second degree, in evolutionary science. This world is purely male and therefore it is essential to know how to impose yourself with skills and the desire to achieve more and more goals" - convinces the entrepreneur Pelau for whom extra virgin olive oil is a real cultural process to be learned and promoted.

Oil tourism meets wine tourism
The company's area of activity is Jerzu, the city of wine which includes the particular Jerzu Biotype sub-area , on which numerous researches have been conducted in collaboration with the University of Conegliano Veneto.
Precisely in this town, the Mura family bottles Patriarca and Tarei , both Cannonau DOC of Sardinia , the first with intense notes and a dark ruby red colour, the second soft and garnet red. From the same family also Vermentino di Sardegna Le Grazie , which received the silver medal at the 2nd edition of Cagliari of the Vermentino National Wine Competition in 2021.
To these productions is added a younger line signed by Giulia Mura , such as rosés.
The story told for generations by the Pelau company has its roots in a distant past in which the care of the vineyards and olive groves coincides with the urgency of sharing and handing down the beauty of the territory and its excellent raw materials .
With this premise of strong tradition , wine tourism and oil tourism represent the opportunity to visit a place, taste the local products and (re)discover its natural treasures, its flavors and its people.
Wine and oil tourism manages to enchant a varied audience: industry insiders, enthusiasts, onlookers who want to give an unforgettable experience.
Here the desire to make these lands a privileged destination helps to create real moments of life inside the vineyards: visits and tastings , picnics in the vineyard and among the majestic ancient olive trees, opportunities for Yoga sessions among the rows, walking and cycling.
"Innovation and tradition are connected in a constant study that I carry out with extreme attention. Here is becoming a Sommelier of wine and oil, refresher courses, long journeys to collect knowledge on raw materials and productions, and still networking in the sector and being part of the coordination of projects with the Universities in which minds express themselves: they are confirmed as essential to always be on point" - testifies the professional Giulia Mura .
Giulia Mura's stainless steadfastness is undeniable as is her ability to attract well-deserved recognition for her work that drives her beloved company.
The satisfaction can be traced in the excellent nods of important personalities such as the former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the former President of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Production Commission Giampaolo Vallardi , grateful for the Made in Italy value protected and supported in its potential.

Upcoming projects
The futuristic vision of the Pelau company and Giulia Mura is undoubtedly oriented towards combining the richness of the island territory with the goodness of its products. The olive harvest, rigorously by hand , guarantees an extra virgin olive oil enriched with aromas and antioxidant substances.
The experiential memory is built step by step to give the increasingly curious and vast public a high level of satisfaction.
"The upcoming projects are concentrated on oil tourism which is added to wine tourism. We are dealing with an important renovation work in the old estates of Josto Miglior , a great figure in the history of the last century, in which there is a charming farmhouse in which to make of thematic houses dedicated to oil and wine.
Furthermore, we are modernizing the mill with high quality systems so as to aim for cutting-edge production levels and confirm the attention to the well-being of the blue zone" -
reveals Giulia Mura , who collaborates closely with the Coordination of the Wine Cities , led by Giovanni Antonio Secchi, and with the National Association of the City of Oil, chaired by Michele Sonnesa and coordinated for Sardinia by Maura Boi .
Here in an oil company that does not assign a leading role to women and is reluctant to give them space: Giulia has drawn attention by covering important roles, sometimes uncomfortable but always with the sole purpose of innovating the essence of the extra virgin olive oil product through diversified tools suitable for current times: new communication platforms, web and TV.
Nature, the earth, biodiversity without delay offer invaluable riches which, to be understood and promoted, require constant dedication: Giulia Mura certifies this care without leaving anything unexpressed.
If you manage to do the job you love, life is certainly more stimulating: the Sardinian entrepreneur is an example of rigor and a dynamic mind.
Following this positive drive, the Pelau company is a candidate for the twelve-month project financed 90% by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Dubai , based in the Emirates. The ambitious initiative for which the Sardinian family business is on the list provides for the inclusion of eighty excellent Italian companies in various sectors: agri-food, food beverage, textile craftsmanship. In the area of six gulf countries including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Kuwait, the chosen ones will be supported for one year by an export manager for each company with its own sales point, so as to maximize the promotion of the territory and Italian production.
The Oleificio Pelau confirms itself as a virtuous company aiming high.
