The city and its hinterland are intertwined by the local hip hop scene, now thirty years old: its historic exponents include the Quartu-based Funtana Beat , the star guests of the first event branded " Hip-Hop Pioneers " at the Off in Cagliari , for the occasion subtitled " Made in Quartu ". Also lighting up the concert at the popular bar are Wave MC , the young Bugone and the selections of Dinamiche Produzioni , from 7 pm this Sunday 8th in via Eleonora d'Arborea 3 .
An evening dedicated to the roots of the movement between Cagliari and Quartu, bringing together history and identity with new generations, precisely through the rediscovery of local hip hop pioneers . The Funtana Beat collective originated in 2003, with the two longtime members Makkarroni and Suwoha already active since the late 1990s. Between street poetry and raw, unfiltered rhymes , combined with the choice of Campidano dialect for the lyrics, the duo's instrumentals move along the lines of gangsta rap, West Coast, and hardcore hip hop, as in the most famous track " Nara de aundi sesi QG ."
Makkarroni and Suwoha aren't the only veterans to get the crowd going this Sunday: Wave MC also takes the mic at a very young age, born in Palermo but living in Cagliari. In 1998 he founded the independent label Sottobanco Produzioni , with which he promotes releases and events, releasing his debut " Ibrido " in 2006, followed three years later by the mixtape " The Mixwave " with DJ Yaner of Men in Skratch. The following year he released the extended play " Il Bivio ", which features a guest appearance by Inoki Ness , and has collaborated with Suwoha, a long-time friend. His most recent album is another extended play, " Non ci penso " (2018).
