This year, the charm and energy of the ocean come to the big screen with the 8th edition of the Ocean Film Festival World Tour Italia. An immersive and unmissable cinematic experience that will conquer the hearts of spectators, taking them on a journey through waves, science and adventure. The premiere of the festival was held on October 22, 2024 in Milan, in the historic setting of the Teatro Carcano, from where it started, touching many other cities in Italy, to arrive in Cagliari for the first time on Monday, November 25 at 9 pm, at the Odissea cinema in Viale Trieste 84 .

The Cagliari stage is an event co-organized with the Seaworld Diving Center, diving school and diving center of Cagliari, with its President Marco Barbarossa and his staff of instructors, who deals with water sports such as scuba diving, freediving and mermaiding for adults, children, and disabled with the Hsa and Nadd teaching methods. Seaworld Diving Center is an affiliated association of Hsa Italia.

The guest in the room will be the sailor from Cagliari Andrea Mura, a multi-award winning champion from a young age in dinghies and Olympic classes and later on monohulls in the Maxy Yacht and Super Maxy categories . Winner of the legendary solo regattas, Route du Rhum 2010, Ostar, 2013 and 2017, Twostar 2012, Quebec-Saint Malò 2012. Andrea was a mainsail trimmer and tactical assistant for the “Il Moro di Venezia” team in 1992. He is also a sailmaker entrepreneur, founder of the sailmaker “Andrea Mura Sail Design” and author of the book “L'Avventura, l'Ignoto e la Paura”, published by Mursia.

About a year ago he set off with his Open 50 Vento di Sardegna for the Global Solo Challenge, the solo, non-stop and unassisted round-the-world trip, which saw him reach the finish line in Galicia after 120 days, first in real time and in third place in compensated time, rounding the 3 great Capes and the infamous Cape Horn which made him the 5th Italian in history to be admitted to the international association of Cape Horners, a result which awarded him the second gold medal from the Coni.

Ocean Film Festival will continue to Bari and from there to Naples, in locations that, like Cagliari, offer a deep connection with the theme of the festival, celebrating marine culture and the importance of protecting the seas .

The flagship film of this edition is "Ice Maiden" , which tells the extraordinary feat of Australian sailor Lisa Blair, the first woman to face the circumnavigation of Antarctica alone aboard her boat, "Climate Action Now". This powerful documentary explores the challenge of one's own limits and the fury of nature, making the viewer experience the emotion of being on the border between man and ocean.

They explore the planet water in its entirety, from the surface to the most hidden depths,” says Alessandra Raggio, CEO of Itaca the Outdoor Community. “ The program celebrates the extraordinary beauty of our seas , not only as places of adventure and leisure, but also as fragile ecosystems to be protected. Among the most anticipated films of the festival is "Playground" , an engaging Italian short film set in Liguria, which explores the theme of Citizen Science, showing how water sports enthusiasts can contribute to the collection of scientific data during their favorite activities. The five films in the program, selected for their quality and visual impact, will offer a total immersion in the beauty and power of the oceans.

The evening will end by filling the eyes of the spectators with the beauty and magic of life in the coral reef. With a total duration of about 2 and a half hours, the event will be enriched by the presence of exceptional guests , who will make it a unique and engaging experience.
