One swallow does not make Spring, one concert does. Especially if the famous Dutch oboist Ralph van Daal is there. On Thursday at 8.30 pm the Sassu hall of the Sassari Conservatory hosts one of the most anticipated "Spring Concerts" organized by the Ellipsis association.
The Dutchman van Daal, also famous throughout Europe as an English horn player, will be accompanied on the piano by teachers from the Sassari Conservatory Mauro Masala and Fabio Moi. Also with them is the Ellipsis String Quartet, made up of Fortunato Casu and Alessandra Cocco (violins), Giovanni Nucciarelli (viola) and Fabrizio Meloni (cello).
The concert will open with the famous aria “Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön”, from The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, adapted by Franz Joseph Rosinack. The program then includes the five Schilflieder op. 28 by August Klughardt, the “Reed Songs” inspired by the German composer by the poems of Nikolaus von Lenau and which describe walking in a forest at five different times of the day. This will then be followed by the Divertimento op. 9 for oboe and strings by the composer and clarinetist Bernhard Henrik Crusell and, finally, the Quartet for oboe, violin, cello and piano by the Czech Bohuslav Martinů.
