It's official: 15 years after their sensational split, Oasis are back. In a long-awaited 8am message, picked up by the British media, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher announced 14 concert dates in the UK and Ireland next summer.

“The guns have been silenced. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come and see. It will not be televised,” is the message. The hunt for tickets begins on Saturday 31 August at 10am Italian time : the live shows will take place in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin and will be “Oasis’ only concerts in Europe next year”.

The famous Britpop band broke up in 2009 during the Parisian festival Rock en Seine when the arguments and clashes between the two artists became irreparable : apparently due to yet another outburst of anger blamed on Liam, who on that occasion broke a very expensive guitar of Noel's. But now is no longer the time to look back with resentment, as the band's iconic hit "Don't Look Back in Anger" says.

There had been persistent talk for some time of a reunion after the quarrelsome brothers, who had long been engaged in solo careers, had given signs of reconciliation, alluding to a possible resumption of their musical season which began in the 1990s , at the time of the so-called Cool Britannia.

The Sun tabloid had already confirmed the imminent reunion, clarifying however, according to a source close to the Gallaghers, that the two brothers will never get along, but they want to get the band back together for the fans. Given their ages, Liam is 51 and Noel is 57, they thought this was the right time to do it, with energy still to spend on a very demanding undertaking.
