Abdoulaye, Alex, Moussa, Sisì, four men and a woman Hafsa, are the protagonists of Nyumba , "house" in Swahili, the documentary that won the Giuseppe Ferrara, Maschera di Ottana and Pergamena Award for best feature film at the XIII Life After Oil International Film Festival in Villanovaforru.
Francesco del Grosso's film, written and scripted by Paola Bottero, produced by Indaco Film, with the contribution of Calabria Film, also received the Audience Award, a testament to the profound emotion elicited by the true stories of five people from Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Somalia, who, after experiencing hell, found acceptance and humanity in Calabria.
The film was shot largely on the beach at Cutro, in memory of the 94 migrants who drowned on February 26, 2023, 35 of whom were children, and of the over 30,000 people who have died in the Mediterranean in ten years.
