Over one hundred vintage motorcycles on display, including vintage, historic and classic. All the major brands in the history of two-wheelers represented, and with them the main manufacturing nations. These are the numbers of the third edition of the “Sardinia Moto Story” exhibition, the first and still only regional event in a sector that boasts a large number of enthusiasts on the island. After the forced break due to the pandemic, Nuoro is once again ready to host that exhibition that aims to be an exhaustive showcase of the motorcycles that have made history. It will do so from 25 to 27 October, in the gallery of the Prato Sardo shopping center.

New location

From the ExMé of the first two editions, the unique exhibition now moves to a place where it can enjoy greater breadth, to the delight of enthusiasts and the many curious people who will want to visit it from Friday to Sunday. For three days, in fact, the large internal gallery will become a privileged parking lot for the two-wheeled "grannys", even if some date back to the 1980s. As in the past, the event is promoted, curated and organized in its entirety by the Lambretta Club Sardegna, the regional association dedicated to the Innocenti scooter that is based in Nuoro. Made up of around 80 members, it has been involved for years in charity and social solidarity activities as well as in the protection of the Lambretta brand. President Giancarlo Cau is satisfied, having been working for several months with his associates to best organize the event at the end of October. Even if there remains a hint of bitterness for the lack of interest of public institutions towards an event that wanted to be a tribute to the great motoring tradition of the Island, in particular of Nuoro. "It pains me to note once again - says Cau - the lack of sponsorship and even less contributions from the Municipality and the Region, despite the reassurances that had been given to us. In this way we had to provide for all the expenses independently, especially thanks to the private sponsors whom I thank for their great availability. Finally, I would like to launch an appeal to collectors or simple owners of vintage motorcycles to take their jewels out of their garages, so as to exhibit them already in the next edition of our event, in 2026, and make an important piece of our history known to the public".

Unique items

The oldest motorcycle, a French Motobecane, is from the 1920s, but it is flanked by brands that have long disappeared, such as Frera and Sertum, along with Moto Guzzi. The parade continues up to the 1980s, with some pearls from the 1970s: German, Japanese and obviously Italian. There is also a large participation of scooters, but visitors will not only find Lambrettas of all ages, because there will also be a large contingent of Vespas, starting with the first type, the so-called “low headlight” from 1948. There will also be space for the fascinating sidecars. Admission is free. The exhibition will observe the usual opening hours of the Prato Sardo shopping centre.
