The electoral campaign for the local elections that will deliver a new mayor to the city of Nuoro after the end of the legislature with the commissioner ends at midnight today .
Voting will take place on Sunday, June 8, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Monday, June 9, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In the hometown of the President of the Region Alessandra Todde, the most anticipated challenge is between the M5S deputy Emiliano Fenu, for the broad centre-left field, with seven lists and 145 candidates, and the former senator of the PD and IV, Giuseppe Luigi Cucca , now a representative of Azione, with Alleanza per Nuoro: six civic lists supported by the centre-right (but without party symbols) and 123 aspiring councillors.
Two outsiders: Lisetta Bidoni (Lista Progetto per Nuoro with 24 candidates) and Domenico Mele (Democrazia sovrana popolare with 16 candidates). The possible run-off is scheduled for Sunday 22 and Monday 23 June.
The candidates close the electoral campaign in four different places in the city, but very close to each other. Fenu chose Piazza Satta, Bidoni the Satta library, Cucca Piazza Asproni and Mele Piazza San Giovanni.
For the Sardinian M5S, one year after its victory in the regional elections, this is a first test: Nuoro, as mentioned, is the city of Alessandra Todde - who is going through a difficult period with the case of her forfeiture and the opposition's constant calls for her to resign - and the broad field is banking on a member of the Five Star Movement who, in the event of success, would leave the Chamber of Deputies.
29,000 voters are called to vote, two thousand fewer than in the previous round five years ago.
Here is the detailed line-up of the two main contenders : Emiliano Fenu is supported by M5s (21 candidates), Alleanza Verdi Sinistra (17), Unità Emiliano Fenu sindaco (23), Sinistra Futura (20), Riformisti per Nuoro (24), Partito Socialista Italiano (22), Progressisti Nuoro Libero (18). Giuseppe Luigi Cucca can count on the support of six lists: Giuseppe Luigi Cucca sindaco (24 candidates), Forza Nuoro al centro (24), Siamo Nuoro (18), Cambiamo Nuoro ora (19), Psd'Az (18) and Riformiamo Nuoro (20). In addition to Nuoro, in Sardinia there will also be voting in Oniferi, Monastir, Cardedu, Goni, Soleminis and Luras, all with fewer than 15,000 inhabitants and where therefore a run-off is not planned.
