The arsonist who unleashed the inferno in the Noragugume countryside in July may be facing trial. The Oristano Prosecutor's Office, which is coordinating the investigation into one of the largest and most serious fires of the summer, has concrete evidence to identify the perpetrator. Specifically, thanks to surveillance cameras, a suspicious car was identified in the area where the fire broke out. It was a white vehicle, filmed driving through the area where the flames began. Investigators are working to reconstruct the vehicle's route. They will then need to identify the driver and determine whether they acted alone. Investigations continue; it is a complex process, but thanks to investigative capabilities and new technologies, it could soon lead to decisive breakthroughs in incriminating the perpetrator.

The blaze broke out on July 17th, a day when the Civil Protection Department was on high alert due to scorching heat and the risk of wildfires. The flames reached the town, affecting several businesses. Firefighting operations were impressive, but the following day the fire flared up again, even more devastating: it spread toward the Ottana plain and then reached the Sedilo area. For three days, aircraft and ground crews worked to put out the fire. In the end, over 1,500 hectares of land went up in smoke, bringing businesses and livestock to their knees.
