Fasten your seatbelts. The Sassari local police are launching an awareness and enforcement campaign on the proper use of seatbelts and child restraint systems in cars. This initiative is also inspired by the 124 violations recorded in the first six months of 2026, involving those who failed to comply with the rules .
With the slogan "Fasten your life," the officers of the Via Carlo Felice command will intensify checks on the roads, also because the tourist season is exponentially increasing vehicle traffic on the roads.
National and international statistics confirm the importance of wearing seat belts: for front seat occupants, the risk of death can be reduced by approximately 45-50 percent, while the risk of suffering serious injuries is reduced by up to 50 percent.
The same applies to rear seat passengers, who, in the event of an accident, could seriously jeopardize their own safety and that of the front seat passengers. This is even more true for children. When secured with approved and properly installed restraint systems, the risk of fatal and serious injuries is significantly reduced. In addition to the information campaign, the local police, as stated, will increase checks throughout the municipality. Checks will focus in particular on evenings and nights, weekends, the main city arteries, and local tourist destinations—periods and locations characterized by greater mobility and a higher risk of accidents.
