Nino Buonocore “In Jazz 6tet” at the Quarter

Nino Buonocore will headline the thirteenth edition of JazzAlguer. On Saturday, August 29th, at 9:00 PM, the Lo Quarter stage will host one of Italy's finest composers with "In Jazz 6tet," a project that reinterprets his forty-year career with a jazz twist, featuring two special guests: Max Ionata on saxophone and Flavio Boltro on trumpet.
Buonocore, author, producer, and arranger, will bring to Alghero a repertoire that includes some of his best-known songs, from "Scrivimi" to "Rosanna" and "Abitudini," transformed through new arrangements, improvisations, and forays into jazz.
On stage, alongside Buonocore on vocals and guitar, will be Alfonso Deidda on piano, Antonio De Luise on double bass, and Amedeo Ariano on drums, joined by Ionata and Boltro on wind instruments.
Buonocore's relationship with jazz runs through much of his output. His encounter with Chet Baker, who was involved in the 1988 album "Una città tra le mani," was crucial, as were subsequent collaborations with international musicians such as Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Anthony Jackson, Chuck Rainey, Tony Levin, Paulinho Da Costa, and Gregg Bissonette.
"In Jazz 6tet" also became the artist's first live album in his forty-year career, recorded in 2020 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. The concert is part of the ninth edition of JazzAlguer, organized by the cultural association Bayou Club Events with the artistic direction of Massimo Russino.
