On 10 April 1920 , 104 years ago, Nilde Iotti was born in Reggio Emilia , one of the most important political figures in Italian history, a statesman, a forerunner in holding first-rank institutional positions.

Since 4 December 1999, his memory has been associated with political values of national and international importance .

Her patriotic face embodies history and her being: courageous, fighting, and proudly a woman . Today we would say "resilient".

His public history began during the Second World War when he fought in the ranks of the anti-fascist resistance with a spirit of freedom. With the birth of the Republic it becomes a flag of the Italian Communist Party in the Women's Union, where it stands out for its battles for women's rights. Struggles that are also conducted across borders for the right to vote recognized to all citizens without limits of sex and gender.

Among his activities, his activity in the Constituent Assembly cannot be forgotten, where he worked for a modern family policy. Times of life and times of work, city timetables and rhythms of life were themes of his political agenda.

It gave impetus to women's rights such as abortion (law 194 of 1978) and divorce (law 898 of 1970).

After 10 years of activity as an MEP (for her, Europe had to be fair and supportive), with 433 votes she was elected President of the Chamber of Deputies.
