Great news in Sardinian ports: there is a new terminal operator in Arbatax and another port company that lands in Oristano .

Let's start from Ogliastra where Air Ocean Cargo arrives, specialized in the management of shipments by sea, a company of the Samag Holding Logistics group. The news was made official by the company which expressed its intention to develop an integrated system of services (in 2022 Samag recorded a turnover of 305 million euros, fifty of which went to Air Ocean Cargo). The choice of Arbatax arose from the advantages offered by the geographical position but also by two other factors: the possibility of using spacious docks in which to develop land services and the presence of skilled workers for port services. The new terminal operator already carries out the loading and unloading operations for the Grimaldi Euromed liners and the metal module loading service for the Oil & Gas industry. But the operation - in the opinion of the group - also has another scope because it fits into the plans of the Region for the development of the Ogliastra port : "We expect that the Arbatax port of call will have an increase in volumes of goods thanks to multimodality" stated Claudio Torchia , general manager of Samag and director of Air Ocean Cargo, "in the next four years the airport will be the hub of the group".

Again in Arbatax, the request by Saipem (an Eni company) to expand its Intermare shipyard should be noted. The notice published by the Port System Authority refers to the renewal request until 2036 for 122,580 square meters of open area and an expansion of the same for another 3,826 square meters in the back of the South Quay; another 8,197 meters on the same South Quay and finally 16,481 meters of water surface in the port for shipbuilding.

We come to Oristano where the Apulian company Sir lands , offering services throughout the peninsula, dealing with industrial services, transport of goods and waste. The authorization to operate should be formalized in the next two weeks.

The port of Oristano joins the ports where the Apulian company operates, including Portovesme . SIR deals with the transport of bulk goods such as coal, manure, minerals and hazardous waste. "Once the license has been obtained, our one million euro investment plan will become operational," said Antonio Roma , the managing director of SIR. The company's numbers are flattering: one million tons of goods handled annually, 20 employees, 300 vehicles employed. Sir has two fixed plants for the recovery of special waste which allow the principles of the circular economy to be applied .
