"Respond within the established timeframe to UEFA's request for documents and design drawings for the new stadium, a unique opportunity for the affected areas."

Giovanni Malagò, president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), wrote this in a letter addressed to Mayor Massimo Zedda, Governor Alessandra Todde, and Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini. He made it clear that time was running out.

Below is the full text of the letter.

First of all, I would like to extend warm greetings on the occasion of the beginning of my term as president of the Italian Football Federation and express my sincere thanks for the attention, availability, and commitment you are devoting to the UEFA EURO 2032 bid process . As I recently emphasized, the awarding of the 2032 European Football Championship to Italy represents an opportunity of extraordinary cultural and strategic importance, not only for the national football and sports movement, but for the entire country. The economic, social, and infrastructural benefits that an event of this magnitude can generate represent a unique opportunity for regional development and valorization. I am convinced that this event can also significantly contribute to accelerating the modernization of sports infrastructure, strengthening the involvement of local communities and fans, and more effectively promoting the principles of sustainability, inclusion, and social cohesion that must characterize major international events. The realization of such an ambitious project requires increasingly close and fruitful collaboration between the FIGC, municipal administrations, sports clubs, and all the institutions involved. Through constant dialogue and full sharing of objectives, it will be possible to transform UEFA EURO 2032 into a lasting legacy, capable of leaving a tangible legacy for local communities and future generations. In this context, I would like to draw your attention to the need to complete the information requested by UEFA as promptly and accurately as possible, particularly with regard to verifying the requirements and the design documentation for your proposed facility. These elements are of fundamental importance in demonstrating the strength of the Italian bid and the region's full capacity to meet the organizational and infrastructural standards required for hosting the competition. While reiterating my appreciation for the work done, I wish to assure you that the Federation's offices remain fully available for any support needed to prepare the documentation within the established deadlines.
