He is one of the characters who has most influenced literature, art and the European imagination. Director Marco Antonio Pani offers an original and courageous version of Ulysses in the film “ Nemos, andare per mare ”, produced by Altamarea Film of Milan and distributed by My Culture. The feature film will be screened in preview on Thursday at the Cityplex Moderno in Sassari at 6 pm and 9:15 pm. The cast will be present and on Friday at the Cinema Odissea in Cagliari, but starting at 5:30 pm and 9 pm. From Friday to Sunday the work will also land in other theaters on the island.
The effective black and white, the use of some variants of Sardinian (especially Lodugorese and Campidanese) and the choice of non-professional actors are the courageous choices of the director from Sassari who proposes a journey between the dreamlike, the ethnographic and the fantastic of the protagonist, played by the breeder Giovanni Masia . The Sardinian places (Olmedo, Alghero, Argentiera, Orosei and others) become the places of the Homeric poem.
The cast is completed by Francesca Niedda in the role of the goddess Athena (the only professional actress), the model from Sassari Silvia Senes in that of Calypso and the pharmacy student Luana Fais , from Ittiri, making her debut in the interpretation of Nausicaa. Queen Arete is Valentina Carta from Orosei and King Alcinous is Francesco Spada from Ittiri. There are also the extemporaneous poets Giuseppe Porcu and Bruno Agus , who in a very island style introduce the story of “Odisseu” in verse and rhyme, accompanied by various tenor singing groups from Orosei.
The crew is international, with a production manager, Anamaria Del Grande , from Brazil and the director of photography, Quique Lopez Real , from Catalonia. Among the Sardinian professionals are the names of Stefania Grilli and Salvatore Aresu for the costumes, Pietro Rais for the scenography, Gerolama Sale for the hair, Carla Aledda for the make-up and Stefano Guzzetti for the soundtrack,
