The Municipality of Porto Torres has appointed the sole project manager and the working group to begin the conservation and enhancement project at the Su Crocifissu Mannu Necropolis , the archaeological site recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The conference on the technical and economic feasibility project for the redevelopment of the Domus de Janas archaeological monument concluded recently with a positive outcome.
The Region of Sardinia and the Superintendency of Sassari and Nuoro have expressed a favorable opinion without stipulations regarding the execution of the works as envisaged in the project, such as the installation of new signage. The content of the signage will have to be agreed upon by the Superintendency's technical and scientific staff. The excavation and earthmoving works, however, must be carried out under the constant supervision of a professional archaeologist.
The project is made possible thanks to funding from the Region , totaling €150,000. The actions envisaged in the conservation and enhancement project developed by the Municipality will include improving accessibility, demarcation, the creation of a rest area, and the installation of informational and educational signage in accordance with the guidelines of the relevant ABAP Superintendency offices.
