While preparations for the award ceremony, scheduled for today starting at 8 pm, are in full swing at the “Mario Ceroli” theatre in Porto Rotondo, some rumours indicate Silvia Careddu and Bastiano Sanna among the winners of the Navicella Sardegna Award.

The name of the biochemist from Nuoro, who has just returned to the island after 25 years abroad and a career spent in some of the most important pharmaceutical industries in the world and the discovery of cures for thalassemia and pediatric diabetes, had already leaked out in recent days, so the latest news is the flutist from Cagliari, the first Italian woman to join the Wiener Philharmoniker of the Vienna State Opera and professor of flute at the Zürcher Hochschule in Zurich, the École Normale de Musique in Paris and the Royal Academy in London.

The wait remains for the other five silver ships of 2024, selected by the jury chaired by Franco Cuccureddu and whose faces will be revealed only tonight during the ceremony conducted by the journalist Egidiangela Sechi.

During the evening, the Olimpia Matacena Award will also be presented, named after the president of the jury, who passed away in 2015, and awarded since then to personalities from the world of communications: in pole position a well-known face from television journalism.

The event, which will be broadcast on Videolina on Saturday 14 September at 9 pm, is organised by the association “Sardegna Oltre il Mare”.
