More trouble for Radja Nainggolan . After the arrest for driving without a license a few days ago, Antwerp announced late yesterday that they had knocked him out of the first team squad.

The reason? The former Cagliari player was caught smoking an electronic cigarette. The midfielder was sitting on the bench with other teammates after having made the usual inspection on the pitch of the Standard Liège stadium with which Antwerp had to play the championship game on Sunday, which was then lost by 3 to 0.

After the players have touched the pitch, they sat on the bench, as usual before the game. At that juncture Nainggolan pulled an electronic cigarette from the sleeve of his sweatshirt and was immortalized as he threw a cloud of white smoke out of his lungs.

“Antwerp”, reads a note from the Belgian club , had an interview with the player “on how certain behaviors affect the club and the group of players. The club has decided to expel Radja from team A indefinitely . Clear agreements have also been made on what the club does and does not expect from the player. Neither the player nor the club will comment further on this story ”, concludes the brief note published on the Antwerp website.

Radja commented on his Instagnam profile, apologizing to the club and the fans : "I just want to tell you that I'm sorry for what I did. I declare it myself: I was completely wrong. But at that moment I didn't really think about it .. . The club has made a decision that I can only accept even if I might find it a bit difficult but in some way I will try to give my contribution for this shirt. " Since last year, smoking has been banned in all stadiums in Belgium.
