Mycras, the illusionist from Cagliari lands on Prime: «Success? A lot of study and a little luck"

If this isn't magic. From the streets of Cagliari to overseas, Michele Cabras, aka Mycras, illusionist, has arrived on Amazon Prime Video. His show, “Something unusual”, has now become “Something unusual”; for now, only available in the English and American versions of the site, but soon also in Italy. With tricks that leave you speechless, manipulating cards, transforming objects, reading minds and much more. 27 years old, from Cagliari, as a child he watched David Copperfield enchanted on television; "then I entered this world and never left it." In the meantime he has won international awards and has been to Paris, Madrid, Valencia, San Marino, Tunis, and has published many videos on social media, also achieving notoriety online.

What can you tell us about your new show?

«With my collaborators we studied a lot to get here and in the end the opportunity arrived. I wanted to enhance my city, show it to everyone. This is why we shot entirely in Cagliari, from the center to the suburbs. We started in 2021, and finished this summer in July. Many unforgettable moments, from writing, to filming in the city with the spectators. It was nice to be able to connect issues I care about with illusionism."

For example?

«The importance of recycling, transforming a glass bottle into sand, because glass is one hundred percent recyclable. Or addiction to social media. I also went to schools to show a different, modern image of the magician."

Your favorite spells?

«The manipulation effects are the most visual and impactful, like transforming a can of cola into one of soda, I like to think that sometimes the hand is faster than the eye. Even the effects of mentalism are very surprising."

How is magic born?

«It can happen at any time. For example, from a song that arouses an emotion in me, a memory is connected to this emotion and from there a message to give to the public. In my opinion, the message is the most important thing in an act, whether it is street magic or theater magic."

The most difficult moment of your career?

«Definitely during the pandemic. Not being able to perform, for a person who has a very strong passion and has studied a lot, was very difficult. But in negative situations we can learn something and that's where I started writing my multimedia project, because it was the only way to express myself."

Is it difficult for a young magician to succeed?

«Thinking only about success is certainly not the best thing. It comes very naturally, putting passion and art first. It takes a lot of study and the classic dose of luck, but sometimes talent isn't enough, and that's where obsession, the good kind, comes into play. Which encourages you to move forward and improve more and more as an artist, managing to reach unthinkable goals."

Any advice to those who want to take this path?

"Do not stop Believin. It is a difficult and tortuous road but without this first ingredient it is difficult to move forward."

If you could do any "real" magic what would it be?

«I would be the Genie of the lamp, to grant three wishes for everyone».
