A summer of culture and wonder in the heart of the island. The evocative setting of the UNESCO site of Su Nuraxi hosts three evening events that combine great music with Sardinia's archaeological heritage. The first edition of the Barumini Music & Heritage Festival will take place on July 18th and 25th, and August 1st. This new international festival is organized by the Fondazione Barumini Sistema Cultura, with the contribution of the Regional Directorate of Sardinia Museums, the coordination of the Association of Local Authorities for Cultural and Entertainment Activities, and in collaboration with the Fondazione Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. The festival also enjoys the support of the Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Entertainment, the Fondazione di Sardegna, and the Autonomous Region of Sardinia – Department of Education, Cultural Heritage, Information, Entertainment, and Sport. This project, under the imposing UNESCO site of Su Nuraxi di Barumini, unites institutions, artists, and the local community to showcase the region in a new light, balancing past and present through 360° art.

The project brings the arts into dialogue with the millennia-old heritage of one of Sardinia's iconic locations, focusing on a quality offering aimed at both tourists and locals.

"The summer performances at the foot of the UNESCO site, Su Nuraxi, represent an extraordinary opportunity to further enhance our historical and cultural heritage," says Emanuele Lilliu, president of the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation. "Not just archaeology, therefore, but a comprehensive, high-quality offering that allows you to fully experience Barumini. These events help convey a modern and dynamic image of our community and its outstanding sites."

Valentina Uras, director of the Regional Directorate of Museums of Sardinia, agrees: "Enjoying the beauty of the majestic Barumini palace, while it serves as a wonderful backdrop to the exquisite theatrical and musical performances, will allow for a synesthesia that will enhance the very experience of this jewel of our archaeological heritage."

The lineup: three evenings featuring big names and quality music

The festival opens on Friday, July 18th with Alessio Boni—winner of the Nastro d'argento—with the recital "La Traviata sono io," inspired by the correspondence between Giuseppe Verdi and Giuseppina Strepponi. He will be joined by the Duo Miroirs (Antonello D'Onofrio and Claudio Soviero). The direction is by Filippo Arriva, while the artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Mauro Meli.

On Friday, July 25th, the spotlight will be on Anna Tifu, one of the most esteemed violinists on the international scene, accompanied on piano by Romeo Scaccia. The program will range from Piazzolla's tangos to the music of the unforgettable Ezio Bosso, in a personal and intense tribute: "Having had the privilege of knowing Ezio was one of the most beautiful things that has ever happened to me," the artist says.

On Friday, August 1st, the grand finale will be performed by the Chorus of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, conducted by Maestro Giovanni Andreoli, with the concert "From Vienna to Broadway," which travels from the elegant atmosphere of Imperial Vienna to the classics of American musicals. A musical journey that unites distant yet similar worlds, between opera and cinema, between tradition and emotion.
