The news ran for just under 24 hours. And even if no one officially exposes themselves, Azione's support for Carlo Calenda for Massimo Zedda's candidacy for mayor of Cagliari - who willingly accepted it - risks causing the Campo largo to explode in the Sardinian capital, at the vote on the 8th and June 9th.
Anger has mounted in the Five Star Movement. Its leading exponents, upon reaching agreement on the name of the former mayor, had set the limits: in coalition only the parties that supported Alessandra Todde for the Region. It seemed like a cut-off for Soru, but also for those who had sided with him. And Calenda had done it. But Zedda aims to broaden the alliance. Which now creaks.
Because it seems that it is not just the Five Star Movement that is irritated: other political forces of the center-left are making their disappointment known at a time when balances are still being sought in the Regional Council, where adjustments in the composition of the permanent commissions are being examined. In short, a puzzle on which the discussion of alliances for municipal elections is based.
No one, for now, is speaking out about Action's support for Zedda, but there are those who are already talking about a "unilateral choice" that risks damaging the coalition . This means that if a shared and synthetic solution is not found, there is the risk that the Campo largo could start to lose pieces. It will be above all up to the candidate for mayor to try, in the next few hours, to calm people down and keep all the allies united.
