In 2024, Olbia will increasingly speak Spanish: the city was in fact the first destination in the world chosen by Spaniards to spend their holidays.

This is highlighted by data from Skyscanner, one of the main global tourism portals that Cipnes with its Study Center has analyzed and monitored.

As soon as the 2023 summer season was archived, many have already started planning the next trip and the keyword "Olbia" was the most typed in the main global search portals, with a rate of over 340% compared to searches online made in 2022.

The presence of Spaniards in Olbia was 23,500 in 2022, according to data from the Sardinia Region reprocessed by Cipnes Gallura, and represents the twelfth market for the city, while the first three places from abroad are occupied by Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

Throughout the island, tourist presences from Spain were almost 303 thousand.

The Skyscanner report also highlights how the quality/price ratio in travel is fundamental for tourists; four out of ten Spaniards expect to spend more in 2024 than in 2023. In addition to price, other factors influence such as local culture, monuments, history and the experience of seeing concerts or visiting film and TV series locations are increasingly relevant.

A positive effect that was recorded in Gallura in 2023, thanks to the response to Disney's Little Mermaid film, set and partly filmed in some of the most evocative locations in Gallura.
