Mourning for former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.

Older brother Max died in intensive care from the aftermath of an illness that was not disclosed. He was 54 years old.

On November 17, he was found lifeless at his home in Berkhamsted, then rushed to Watford General Hospital. Halliwell was in the Middle East where her husband Christian Horner, former Red Bull Racing driver and team manager, was preparing for the Qatar Grand Prix.

Friends described Max and Geri as "incredibly close." "This is the most terrible, devastating and heartbreaking news possible - said a source close to the singer - and Geri is completely destroyed."

"As you can imagine, this is a difficult time for Geri and her family and we therefore ask you to respect their privacy," a spokesperson said.
